Context:
This is often a very common question from HCP partners and resellers. To address this query once and for all, we have written this article to help you do it in a self-service mode.
Issue:
HCP partners and resellers need to update vendor license periodically if they are hosting multiple customer accounts under HCP vendor account.
Resolution:
HCP license management team provides new vendor license based on request. Partners need to download and place the license file in the following location (within HCP primary server):
$ /opt/hcp/conf
Remember to change the license file ownership to root (chown root:root hcp.license).
Take a backup of the old hcp.license file and delete the expired license. Transfer the new license file in the same location.
By default, the update takes place automatically and do not ask for any manual action. To ensure, partner can restart the HCP service in the primary server.
Note: If partner is hosting HCP primary servers in their own datacenter or customers' datacenter, they need to place the license file in all HCP primary servers if there are multiple HCP primary servers installed for high availability.
