In a large organization where number of print users and jobs are quite large, the number of pending jobs in Follow-Me queue can go really huge. It is bit difficult to search and delete particular print job when there might be thousands of print job around.
There should be a quick and easy way to find disputed print job(s) from Follow-Me queue. This is much needed for a print admin perspective on a daily operational basis.
You need to connect to HCP database which you can achieve in two ways -
a. connect DB via external tool
b. connect DB via command line
We'll discuss the first option, easy for anyone to follow and execute quickly, even if you are going to touch the database for the first time.
1. Download and install DbVisualizer tool from internet. It is a free software.
2. Create a new connection to the PostgreSQL database with the following properties and Connect:
Database Server: Hostname of the server
Database Port: 5432
Database UserId: postgres
Database Password: ******
3. Once connected, open SQL Commander Tool and execute the following SQL query:
SELECT * FROM document WHERE username = '<Disputed_Username>' AND documentname LIKE '%<Disputed_Document_Name>%'
This will fetch the list of the print jobs associated with the username or the document name. You can also modify the query with 'OR' instead of 'AND' to get more flexubility.
4. If you have found the right print jobs which needed to be deleted permanently (one or multiple printjobs), execute the following SQL query:
DELETE * FROM document WHERE username = '<Disputed_Username>' AND documentname LIKE '%<Disputed_Document_Name>%'
