Background
The HCP HP OXPD Embedded application can be deployed from an HCP gateway and is supported on a range of HP devices, the support list for which can be accessed via the Everyoneprint Partner zone:
https://everyoneprint.com/partnerzone/embedded-client-device-support/
Prerequisites
- HCP Gateway in place
-
Latest recommended Firmware
- Mandatory Factory Reset.
- No other Print Management applications installed / active.
- Be aware of the device admin password in order to install the embedded software.
- Ensure that the HP device and gateway can communicate using DNS.
- Create a certificate within HCP, based on the DNS name of the gateway.
- If using card readers, ensure that the PID/VID are set as per the table in 10.15 of the online documentation
- Pull print Input Port created
Port requirements for embedded deployment and communication

Embedded configuration
Gateway configuration
Ensure that the gateway DNS Name is set within the domains list in the HCP tenant:
Next, ensure that there is a domain mapping in place for the gateway, choosing Add, then save:
Generate certificate
Navigate to Certificates in the HCP Portal, then Choose Create:
Generate certificate based on the DNS name of the gateway:
Certificate successfully generated:
Embedded profile
Go to Embedded and enter the details as below for the HP device, explanation of each setting follows. Default settings have been chosen in the screenshot:

Card options below can be set based on requirements:
Trim control characters from card ID
Print all jobs on card login
Trim zeroes from card ID
Enable scan application: This will install the HCP scan to email application
Printer setup
The following steps should be followed in order to prepare the MFP for embedded deployment. The options are explained in more detail below:
Name: Free text field to enter printer name
Address: IP Address or DNS Name
Description: Free text field to add information about the printer
Protocol:
TCP should be used if printing via PC Client from Mac or Windows (please see other Best Practice guide for more detailed information about the use of PC Client in HCP)
IPP also available from the drop-down menu can be used if printing using native driver or via Non-Windows/Mac operating system
Vendor: HP
Output Type: Postscript 3 (MFP must support this language to allow printing)
Reverse path finisher: Enable if this is applicable to the printer
Monochrome printer: Enable if this is applicable to the printer
IP Reader Address: Enter details if a networked card reader is being used for print release/authentication.
Device serial: Serial Number
Create matching Input Port: To create a matching push Input port
Embedded software: Ticked, which will show embedded configuration options.
Embedded configuration: Select the Embedded configuration option selected previously named "HP OXPD"
Client Terminal Services: Set to GATEWAY.EOP.LOCAL as this is the local gateway from which the embedded software will be deployed.
Service: Set to GATEWAY.EOP.LOCAL, as the gateway will control the output of the document to the printer
Location: No data and has not been configured (please see other Best Practice guide for more detailed information about locations in HCP).
When saving the settings, the printer will appear in the list:
On the right hand side there are 3 options:
