Sometimes, you might not be able to use our pre-configured .ova file to create a gateway, and need to install HCP directly on a plain vanilla image.
These commands are based on RedHat / CentOS / Rocky so may differ on other distros.
Firstly, boot up the linux image, and find out the IP address, or DNS name to be able to use SSH.
SSH makes life easier as you can paste and auto complete file names. MobaXTerm is recommended
To find out the ip address simply type
To download the .bin file, we can do this directly from the Command Line. You use a small utility called "wget".
“wget” may be installed already. To install, type the following:
sudo yum install wget
You will either be asked to confirm the download, or it will simply state "nothing to do" if the utility was already installed.
Next we download the file from the server
Please ensure you replace the version number in the filename above with the latest version. You can get this from the Partner Zone.
This will then download the file, and you should see the progress bar
If there isn’t the progress bar, then there is an issue with the gateway communicating externally to the internet. Ensure external internet access via port 443 (HTTPS).
Once the file download is complete, you need to make it executable. This needs super user rights.
sudo chmod +x hcp-server-3.XX.X-release-setup-linux-x86_64.bin
Now the file is ready for installation.
Follow the standard prompts to install HCP, and once this is done, and installed, ensure you it hit enter to finish the installation process, this starts the service, and then go into the HCP admin portal to continue the standard set up steps.
